Sports massage for the active enthusiasts is much needed. However, calling and scheduling for a masseuse is quite the work. Can life be easier? Sure. You might just need a lacrosse ball. Foam rollers are great too and we love the stick but, admit it, bringing it around is a hassle and there are hard to reach places that massage rollers can’t solve.
Lacrosse balls are great tools as SMR (self myofascial release). Here are some ways you could ease those muscular pains around your body with the help of a simple tool called lacrosse balls.
Release sore feet – By placing weight on the lacrosse ball under the arch of your feet, you could feel that soreness being released. Roll the ball around the arches. Tight arches are a usual pain from all those walking and running you do everyday. Plantar fasciitis could be helped with this simple exercise.
Release glute pain- Stand up against a wall or lye down on the floor with one side of the glutes. Insert the lacrosse ball in between your glutes and the floor or wall. Roll your sides over it and feel the muscle soreness being released.
Release tight hips- Tight hips are annoying. Like releasing glute pain, you could also relieve tight hips. Place the lacrosse ball in between your tight side of the hips and the wall or the floor. Roll over it for 60 seconds and feel the difference.
Release shoulder stress- From carrying heavy things and sleeping on your side, you can create shoulder stress. Relieve the pain away by placing the lacrosse ball in between your shoulder and the wall or the floor. It’s a bit tricky releasing the pain away since our shoulders are small but just do the balance. Release pain from that rotator cuff or shoulder tendons.
Release forearm pain- Roll that lacrosse ball up and down against a flat surface and release pain from the forearms. This is best for golfer’s elbow or tennis elbow.
Release calf stress- This is also good for mobility for running and jumping. Self massage or calf by placing the lacrosse ball on the floor and in between your calf. Roll over it and feel the pain being released.
Lacrosse balls have a lot of advantages from easy transport to effectiveness of releasing trigger points. Carry one on your travels or place one in the refrigerator for a cool massage.
