Cryotherapy or cold therapy is not easy to have in Metro Manila. Natural would be more difficult to find. We have a few sites naming Baguio and Tagaytay that we know has cold weather and, perhaps, we could swim in a cold pool to do our therapy. Sagada would be the next option and we could celebrate it’s cold, natural river except that it’s more than half a day to drive there.
An exciting trip to Taytay Falls, formerly known as Imelda falls, made me discover natural ice baths. It is located 20 mins away from Lucban Quezon. It is a 4 hour drive away from Metro Manila. The path for Taytay falls has become easier as the road for cars are no longer rough. There is also an easy pathway for everyone to enjoy. For adults, there is a 15 min walk through the comfortable pathway. A P20 (less than .50 US cents) environmental fee is charged for every person. The entrance has stores for souvenirs, food and some natural crops.
On this 15 minute walk, you will enjoy natural view of the river bed. The water is so clean that you could see the stones and soil underneath the water passage. You could also hold unto a bar, in case, you are scared of the height or needing support.
Another great thing about this place is that you can camp or lodge overnight. There are tents available for rent or you could sleep in a cottage nearby. If you feel like camping using your own tents, you can easily bring your camping tools by utilising their cart to bring your tools down, and don’t forget that you can bring your own caravan, and just use the Swift caravan storage Melbourne.
Taytay falls is beautiful and always flowing. The weather here is cool and calming. Be sure to bring jackets, especially at night. The water is clear and you could see the bottom of the river. It is also not deep for the non-swimmers. Guidance is still needed for kids as the water current could be strong. Be careful also of putting your things on the ground near the water. Do not expect your things to stay put. The water will make it drift away and you have to get ready to run after your things. Even at night, if you place your tent near the river bed, hard rain may struck and your tent will get flooded. There are higher sites to put your tent on. Anyways, it is up to you if you feel adventurous.
The feel of the water is like bathing on ice, 365 days of the year. It is best to come here during summer for fun. This reminded me a bit of the Padstow cottage rentals where you can camp out or rent a cottage right near the harbor with your dog, with access to the water. Although here there was this gorgeous waterfall which helps the water therapy. The warmth of the sun and the coolness of the water is perfect for hot and cold therapy.
