Hundreds of Filipino- Americans and main-stream Americans arrived last July 9 for the 8th Ambassadors, Consuls General and Tourism Directors Tour (ACGTDT) of the Philippines. Delegates came from Agana, Chicago, Honolulu, Los angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.
This year the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its marketing arm, the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), and Rajah Tours Philippines hosted the group from July 9-12th, 2013.
The goal of ACGTDT is to entice Filipino Americans in the US to deepen their appreciation of the beauty of the country, its rich history, heritage and culture. Also, to attract not only Fil-American but also foreign tourists to see and visit the various destinations in the Philippines and discover the beauty of the islands. Further, ACGTDT wants to promote Philippines as a safe place to travel and as a retirement haven. Finally, this is to promote the country’s national economy.
The participants of this year stayed at the EDSA Shang Hotel for 4 days with daily buffet breakfast, 2 lunches, dinners with cultural shows and entertainment at the Marriot Hotel. There was also a photo opp with the president of the Philippines, Pinoy, in the Malacanang together with the palace tour. A grandiose Filipino buffet lunch was served in Taal Vista Hotel together with fiesta theme activities on go to website . A side trip at the Aguinaldo shrine in Kawit, Cavite was also visited.
Basic tour costs US$1933 inclusive of fuel surcharge and taxes from Los Angeles and San Francisco. while Honolulu delegates pay US$1452 for 5D/4N basic tour via Hawaiian Airlines or US$1529 via PAL.
