The Phnom Penh hat (PP hat) happens every year around Feb or March. It is a 2 whole day ‘til night event that spreads good spirits in the Ultimate environment. It is a grass field event that is held in school fields. Ultimate players are asked to bring good spirits, great game, water bottles/beer mugs/Nalgene, sunscreen/hat and cleats.

PP Hat is a tight crowd with several teams playing for Ultimate. What’s great about this event is that since it’s a numbered crowd everyone knows each other at the end of the tourney. Also, because you can get or bring a stash of organic, good smelling, green (sometimes brown) product. To the happy pizza! Its quite odd how this is allowed in school or maybe it’s not…

Fun starts right when you enter PP. Ride a tuktuk to your hotel, which costs about 7$. Save more by walking on a street and hailing one. Its down to 5$. Yes, they accept dollars ;). Friday night is the registration night were Ultimate players “register” for the event. Register here means mingle and get free booze. Registration fee for 2013 is 70$. Blue dog was the chosen bar for this year. It’s a chill, by the neighbors bar. This includes lunch and beer for 2 days, Friday and Saturday parties.

Saturday morning is the start of the games. Players can ride the kettle trucks for 1$ to the field. Hella fun! Then the Ultimate games start. A team gets to play 3 times (usually) in a day against other random team.

At night, an awesome party is held. 2 great in house bands play for the Ultimate party. These two bands are real good talents. Their music can hypnotise you. The Village is also a chill bar with a dash of posh in it.

Sunday games are more competitive but still fun. I take this back. It will all depend on what the goal of your team is. It is a hat!

Frog Prince continues to play from last night’s party- PP hat

The slip ‘n slide comes right after the final game. This is a superbly fun activity where you lay out for the disc on a slippery cover. Prolly the most awaited game too aside from Ultimate.
